THE ARTIST

STEFAN DAG, a native of the Austrian Tirol, nestled in the mountains and valleys between Italy and Germany, typically inherits the creativity and zest for life of the Italians and the discipline and organization of the Germans. After he went to Culinary School, feeling that the world was his oyster, he left the small community of St. Johann. His travels took him around the world by sea. Hotel Diploma in hand and experience behind him, he made a bee line for New York's great restaurants. Once there, Stefan worked in such renowned culinary meccas as "Tavern on the Green", "Club 21" and managed the historic "Fraunces Tavern". Stefan moved to Aspen in the 1975. Stefan now lives just outside Carbondale, Colorado with his English wife, Alexandra and two dogs, Happy and Spanky. He only has to look outside for the daily inspiration of Mount Sopris. Stefan is an avid skier and constant creator. Stefan has always shown a curiosity for new technology. He holds the original patent with his friend Peter Leahy for "Rapidgate". The original breakaway ski post. He is currently working on the development of a linear actuator for UAVs. He has applied for patents for design and method for his candelierart.

When Stefan discovered the electric flame technology, he was inspired to create candeliers in all shapes. Stefan was determined to bring beauty and modern technology to the natural attraction we all seem to have for candles. Each candelier is hand crafted and signed by Stefan and copyrighted by the artist. Stefan is a registered Kinetic artist.

Current creations are the Sea of Lights©, a stunning sea of white lights, Harlequin©, a gentle mix of fairytale lights, and the Star of Alexandra©, an impressive center piece for any home, as well as Ring of Fire©, Crescendo© and Brilliance©. Thank you for the all your orders, support and appreciation at the Architectural Home Design Show in New York, Lightfair International in Las Vegas and Dallas Furniture Mart in June and January 2008. New items are now available for the smaller space will be Manhattan© and Kiss©. The 7 candle wall sconce, Silhouette©, was a sensation in Dallas and will complement any of the above candeliers as will the Princes©. Wave© (available as a hanging piece and shelf) will float gently across a wall. Stefan recently added Fanfare© and Ring of Fire with a fan installed in it. A new favorite is Great Spirits© which is perfect for that large rectangular dinning table. With the introduction of Focus© a full mantlepiece of candles and the fireplace insert, Stefan's creative collection is nearly complete. But he can't wait for the next design challenge. Inspired by the Harry Potter movies, The Larry Potter Line saw the light of day at Dallas in January 2007, dedicated to Stefan's best friend, Larry Bailey. The Suspenze Pendants are magic to behold.

We would like to thank Shawn O'Connor for his wonderful photos.
